AFLO, Dominic Berry and Culain Wood (and you?!)

The next set of three poets are here to help you feel part of the show. AFLO, Dominic Berry and Culain Wood are three incredible poets who will draw you into their performances with their mastery of words. It will almost feel like you are part of the show … but also you can literally be part of the show. Aside from individually delivering their own phenomenal work these artists will help you have a chance to perform at Glastonbury. During the festival, AFLO will be hosting an open mic event where you can share your work on stage at Glastonbury. Dominic Berry and Culain Wood will also be hosting the annual Glastonbury Poetry Slam with a featured slot at next year’s festival up for grabs for the winner. Come along to the Poetry&Words tent to find out how to sign up for these events and to see AFLO, Dominic and Culain be brilliant at what they do best!

AFLO (Open Mic Host and Performer)

AFLO the poet is an award-winning Brighton-based spoken word artist, activist and academic who embraces creative expression to disrupt the status quo and inspire social change. AFLO. uses poetry as a vehicle to address hard-hitting topics, particularly racism and mental health, primarily speaking from her lived experiences.

AFLO has performed at various protests, festivals and events, in addition to offering workshops to encourage others to engage in creative expression as a means of personal as well as societal healing. She has been published by Penguin Random House and recently self-published a poetry zine. AFLO is currently an in-house artist for Brighton Dome, as well as the host for their poetry nights. She is a significant force directing change in Brighton’s creative scenes and continues to sow seeds across the country.

Dominic Berry (Slam Host and Performer)

Dominic Berry is an award-winning poet. He was 2017 Glastonbury Festival Poet in Residence, winner of the 2020 and 2017 Saboteur ‘Best Spoken Word Artist’ award, and has toured his verse across the world. His other awards include winning New York’s Nuyorican Poetry Cafe Slam, UK Superheroes of Slam and, as of 2024, ten Arts Council England Grants for the Arts awards. He has performed his poetry on BBC2 showcasing the best of 2017 Glastonbury FestivalBBC’s Greg and Celia’s Festivals Highlights (highlights of 2014’s Edinburgh Fringe), and, in his children’s poet persona, he introduced his pet ‘Dave the Dragon’ on CBeebies Rhyme Rocket.

Culain Wood (Slam Host and Performer)

Culain Wood is a spoken word poet from Salford…

“One of the most exciting poets in the country” (Punk in Drublic), Culain’s poetry is full of “integrity, humility and fragility” (Glastonbury Festival).

Culain lists Joe Strummer, David Attenborough and Eric Cantona as his inspirations, but he also writes for his daughters, so they will always know what he stood for, and who he stood up to.
